The picture did not appear because of the URL ahead of it. When entering a URL please click on the "insert hyperlink" symbol (an icon showing a globe with paper clip) which will add these characters to your text. Type the URL between these two ][ in the middle, this will tell the program that the text within the symbols is a URL and any text after is to be processed (if it contains instructions), in your case it was the picture of the car.

Nick,
I have never used the insert hyperlink button - I’ve always just copy/pasted a link and it works. What purpose does using the hyperlink button serve?

Forget my previous waffle: MG23 sat on 2M3341, it's still around carrying the Reg MG3099A I believe.

You're correct John (should have had my glasses on). The Register lists "unknown" as the registration number for that car & I misread the engine number..... I matched the MG23 registration number to the chassis from a very old MBH list from when he compiled that sort of thing from cars he came across. Very often that would have been taken from a Guarantee Plate rather than sighting the chassis number itself, so not 100%, but much of the info pre-dates the Register even.

Are not the headlights usually on a bar that runs across the front of the radiator? Mine are.

One reason for using the "Insert hyperlink" code was in my explanation to Reinout above. Simply typing the URL works most of the time but if there is an off page link following it, that doesn't work. I frequently have to edit posts to insert those codes.

"MBH" is Michael Barry Hawke (my Dad). He owned his J2 from 1953 until 2010 as daily transport, family car, Motorsport vehicle etc. Even in retirement it was his preferred vehicle. He kept a basic note of all MMMs he came across - they were dropping like flies in the 50s. He always signed his notes "MBH" |

MG 23 was on 2M3341 before it went to the States, and lost its number!!
It now has age related number SVS 374 and is back in the UK, and alive and well!!
MG 23 now on a 2011 Volkswagen!!

You are right John. I bet those headlamps wobbled about all over the place with no real support apart from a wing that wasn't itself properly supported. It looks nice and clean though!

The picture was taken at the University Motors Showroom in London, probably around 1964. The M-type was used as a demonstrator car together with an 18/80 that was shown there as well.
