Ok chaps so I've finally bought a MMM MG it's the little Blue J2 at Barry Walkers.....not quite the 6 cylinder I thought I was after but a lovely lovely thing none the less and just the ticket for blasting around the Kent countryside in.....the pubs are going to be doing a rip roaring trade this summer (if we get one) as I blatt along the Kent lanes on 2 or in 4 wheeled Vintage machinery.....I'm sure you lot will be able to tell me more about this car than Barry has already told me.....the photos don't really do it justice it's a lovely lovely thing....so here's a photo of J2 soon to be in my garage and 2 of other favorite things in my garage

Well done - what a good companion for the two motor bikes.
I expect our trials experts, such as John Reid, will be able to give details of the trials history?

The first owner was J.E.S. Jones; the second (it seems) was P.S. Flower in February 1936.
I suspect it would be well worth getting the chassis file from Kimber House if it isn’t among the papers tbat came with it.

Welcome to the MMM world,Russ. What an interesting car you have there!
Simon refers to the factory file information available from the MGCC at Kimber house. The Triple-M register is an integral part of the club and I would earnestly encourage you to join the club, through which much support and other material assistance will be available to you, as well as the camaraderie that comes from meeting members of our community in person not just on a screen somewhere!
Good luck! Dick Morbey, MMM Register Committee member

Just to keep the record straight. The chassis file is over 30 pages and is within the history file that Russ will get. Thanks for mentioning it Simon. What is also of great importance, is the fact that Dudley Flower (Philip's nephew) lives just down the road from us here, near Worcester, and is prepared to let me have (and in-turn the new owner) many important family photos and unfound history. In addition to all this, our brilliant MG author, Malcolm Green, is just publishing a long article on this very car in the forthcoming edition of the MG Owner's Club magasine "Enjoying MG". I'm happy this historic MG has gone to a good home and to a man steeped in vintage hardware.
(Look out now for this fabulous PB we are just finishing.)
(Also, don't forget to book for the MMM Register tour of Stratford & the Cotswolds running in September.)
Yours, BW.

Thanks Barry you were a pleasure to deal with and thanks for finding my Front door key and sticking it in the post......I'm so looking forward to whizzing about the Kent Countryside in the little J2.....be rest assured the little MG isn't going to be a garage queen polisher it's going to get used and certainly won't be wanting for anything in my tenure it'll be kept / remain in tip top condition.....I'll more than likely be looking to dabble in some sort of Vintage sporting event (do Trial events happen anymore?) and will definitely be popping along to places such as Brooklands Beaulieu and the like......cheers all let the fun begin

Russ, I don't know if this sort of thing would interest you, being "just down the road", https://www.tonbridgelions.org/classic-car-tour . Meet at Tonbridge School for coffee & biccies then 60 to 70 miles, largely country lanes, to lunch followed by a different route back to the school for a cream tea. All proceeds, as you would expect with the Lions, to charity. Dave, just a happy participant 6 or 7 times and again this year. |

the 1929 Norton sounds awesome and it's fast.....The 1927 Sunbeam is a real sporting ride it's so light and sounds pretty good too......I have trouble deciding which to take out for a run....at the moment my go to ride is the Norton......picking a ride next week is going to be even harder when the little J2 turns up......I guess it'll be the little J2 for a bit as the Mrs will want to come out now.....damn......LOL

Welcome to the world of J2s. Dudley F was a legend - mixed it with big boys & often came out on top! I envy your flat-tanker.
