I bought my MG PA, chassis PA 2000, in Holland in 1959.
First Dutch registration of this car was in 1957 with part Nr. 1121/2 of the firewall support mentioned as "chassis number" (!) From the MG Car Club`s chassis- file it is known that this car was sold new to G.F Braithwaite of Oldham by the Imperial Garages at Blackpool and registered with license Nr. FV-6304 on 31-07-1935.
The history of this car between Januari 1936 and March 1957, when it turned up in Holland ,with a German Hansa 1100 cc engine mated with the original gearbox,is completely blank !
See picture of this car at time of registration in the Netherlands.
Any additional info about this car`s history will be much appreciated !

This may be a silly idea, but presumably you have already taken all of the available information from the Blackpool FV records. now at the Lancashire Record Office, Preston.

Bob. ( who used to ride a BSA 250, FV 4782 )

Best regards,

Rob, When the UK had local registration letters, FV - as on P2000 - was issued for new vehicles by Blackpool licensing office in 1934 - 35.

Registration Offices were ordered to destroy the old records when they were computerised, but, thankfully, not all did.

In Philip Riden's excellent book (ISBN 1 898937 25 7) 'How toTrace the History of your Car', the Blackpool FV records are listed as now being held at the Lancashire Record Office, Bow Lane,Preston, PR1 2RE Tel; 01772 263034. (Check first, of course.)

Normally, a 'phone call will find out if FV 6304 is still on record, and a photocopy can be obtained. Note, a certified - more expensive - copy is only necessary if you are trying to recover the original number for UK registration.

The record may be very detailed, showing subsequent owners, or it may be restricted to first owner and chassis number.

Bob.

In the meantime the Record Office has informed me that all data concerning registrations of this prewar period are no longer in their files. Their advice is to ask the MG Car Club, but their info concerning chassis P 2000 only covers the period July `35 - January 1936.
Any additional info concerning my MG PA , chassis P 2000, between 1936 - 1957, carrying license Nr FV-6304, remains therefore very welcome !

Rob,

There is also a note in the book which Bob refers to that some of the records relating to FV registrations are held by:-

Mr A.R.Phillips,
16, Victoria Avenue,
Grappenhall.
Warrington.
WA4 2PD.

Good luck,
