I have a set of 13 B&W photographs which I've always assumed were produced by the factory for publicity purposes. Is anyone able to confirm this? The photographs are approximately 9"x7" and mounted on black card. I've attached a selction of four below. Neil

These are so interesting, particularly the light coloured chassis showing the detail of the various brake cable arrangements and battery cable run...

Can you put up the others and can they joing the other factory photos or has the club got these already?

Someone was asking about the brake cable lubrication on early Fs the other day and here it is...

Many thanks

P

Peter,

Glad you think these are interesting. I will most certainly copy and post the others - hopefully tomorrow if I have time.

No idea if any of these photographs are already in the Club archives.

Regards,

Neil

The light colour of the chassis had caught my eye as well. It was not unusual for a new steam locomotive to be painted in 'Photographic grey' when first officially photographed. This colour would reveal more detail than if the loco were painted in its more conventional livery.. The photo of Urie's S15 here http://www.urieloco.co.uk/index.htm for example, illustrates the point...

Neil,

These are exactly the sort of photos that many of us have been looking for. The Register has quite a collection but they have been unavailable for many years although they are now in the process of being scanned and made available again at last. But could I suggest (request?) that as well as posting them here you also send them to the the email addresses that can be found here http://www.triple-mregister.org/news.asp (scroll down the page to find the entry about photographs) as posting them in the Forum results in a distinct loss of quality.

Simon - Will do. The images I've posted were simply 'snapped' with my digital camera. I'll need to gain access to a scanner to make high resolution files but this shouldn't be a problem though it might mean a delay of a few days. Regards, Neil

Hi Neil

Thanks for posting the photos.

I have seen the first photo somewhere before, maybe it was published in a motor magazine in period?

Two of these photos are amongst the original F type MMM Library photos. All 260 of these are shown as thumbnail prints on the poster sized chart which the Register used to offer to enable people to make their selection. I expect it is these 260 prints which Robin is now scanning so he has quite a big job on his hands.
The reverse of the poster also used to include a copy of an article by Cecil Kimber on Tuning the MG Midget which included a number of J2 photos showing the process.

I think the article attributed to Cecil Kimber on Tuning the MG Midget can be found here http://www.triple-mregister.org/uploads/retro/Tuning_the_MG_midget.pdf

These are great, Neil. Can you send the full size scans to the email address I referred to above?

How many photographs fail to convey the quality of the original image?
