Ian,

Despite my best efforts it seems that I shall have to work that day, so I won't be along unfortunately. Next year will definitely happen!

Thanks for the follow up.

Nick

Understood Nick - better luck next year!

We have another D entering (Mike Jakeman) - so that's SEVEN D Types so far, with a possible 8th in the offing.

Breaking news. The BBMF Lancaster is still unserviceable following its near catastrophic in-flight engine fire last season. It should have been flying again by now, but there was a SNAFU with the fire retardant paint on the fuel tanks that were removed for overhaul while repairs were being undertaken. So today I heard from OC Ops at the BBMF, 'Parky' Parkinson, that they will be launching a Spitfire to replace the Lanc for us on Saturday. That is extremely good of them to make sure that we have BBMF air support. I asked which Spit they would be scrambling for us - apparently they won't know until a few days in advance - they have FIVE to choose from!

Jayne and I fly Vancouver, Toronto, Gatwick a week tonight. The day draws near.

Colin Lee, who has been anchoring the paper entries has now headed off for a well-deserved holiday on the Isle of Wight, so any new entries should be made online, or simply e-mail me. Your tickets will be waiting for you at the gate on the day, or you can simply turn up and pay at the gate on the day. As of this morning we have just 23 climbs left.

Jayne and I are driving from Seattle to Vancouver tomorrow afternoon and flying to London Friday afternoon, arriving Gatwick Saturday morning and heading for a rented cottage just outside Bath, a stone's throw from Digby and Julia Gibbs. Apart from when we are on the hoof, I'll be in e-mail contact throughout for any late entries/assistance.

Three more to add:

PJ 2495 1932 MG D Peter Chapman (8 D Types now entered)
LS 2464 1930 MG M Ollie Richardson
K 3030 1934 MG K3 John Gillett

Any more, just pay at the gate now.

Frank Ashley's M is suffering oil in the water, other than that, no late cancellations.

Arrived in Bath Saturday, through the jetlag, checked out the Sunday route yesterday. Also checking out the weather - looking good.

Ian

Actually it is Saturday 22nd July next year. The date was to be the 15th, and this was printed in the Programme, but it was changed by the BOC after it went to print.
