Yes Nick, they look fine; go get 'em! In fact they also seem to have a slightly longer threaded portion which can only be good.

That may well be so Dick. Do you know how it compares with Aus? Also, if you've seen the dreadful machined ones, perhaps it's worth it to get the right look, after all, 10 don't weigh much which must help.

Thanks Horst. Yes, that's the machined from solid one.
Cheers,

How many double length fasteners does each car need? I am willing to buy them here and ship them to any member who needs them at cost. How much demand is there? Nick |

I am still chatting with DOT manufacturers about these. I have not forgotten since the last time someone asked for them.
Doing my best.
Will update accordingly. |

I have resolved this problem for PA1733 and will be using the 2BA threaded double posts which are available and 8mm dia knurled brass 2BA inserts pressed with adhesive into the ash frame, the inserts will be totally invisible but will allow for removal for e.g. painting. I can buy the inserts but they would be very easy to turn up.

Does all his interest in the long studs mean that folks are going to start attaching their hoods to the frame and folding them properly and then fitting the proper tonneau cover over the hood which remains attached to the studs when folded?

Yes, apart from losing some 'luggage space' and adding a little weight, it makes sense to keep the set together. Now I need a proper half length tonneau!

Since the hood needs to be stored somewhere in the car if it is to be of any use you don't actually lose much, if any, luggage space nor add any weight. To my mind the correct half tonneau looks very neat and well worth getting.

Simon, real men only use a full tonneau, the hood is at home. So when the rains and the snows come they pull on the flat cap, don a mackintosh and drive on wearing a wide smile.
