Yesterday was a good day for the Triple-M racers who put on a fine display.

I attach 3 pictures, one of young Harry Painter - PA -who won by quite a margin with a display of superb driving, the second is of Oliver Sharp in his N special - with 6 Amal carbs - who came second and the third is the battle between Oliver and Mike Painter - Kayne Special - who finished third after an epic battle with Oliver.

It was good to meet all the owners and to buy the new 2018 Yearbook - well done to Ed Simon.

Thanks very much George.

The weekend was simply splendid at all levels: racing, cameraderie and socialising, all held together by Mark Dolton who will undoubtedly say that the credit belongs to the racers and sponsors and everyone who pitched in to help. He would be right to say so, but be in no doubt: without Mark's insight, leadership, determination and commitment, none of this would have happened! He has put Triple-M racing well and truly back on the map and we owe him a great debt of gratitude. No pressure then for Duncan Potter who has now taken on the mantle of race co-ordinator!

Mark, we were all devastated to learn that your back problems meant that you and the PB were not able to take part yesterday and we wish you a complete recovery after the necessary surgery.

On a brighter note there was a splendid outcome to the Mary Harris Trophy race, won on handicap by Charles Goddard in his PA special.

Harry Painter was the outright winner of that race in the family PA, and also of the second Triple-M race late in the afternoon - in which his fastest lap was 1:03.453 - an average of 68.53 mph!

Also gratifying that our grid included two newcomers: Onno Konemann in his D type special and Henry Hitchens in the standard cycle-winged J2 he bought just two months ago. Both did well and had a great time.

The second race offered a timely reminder of the case for crack testing suspension components to identify latent defects - happily the driver was completely unscathed and as far as one can see the car was only slightly bruised.

As said above, what a super weekend. Met so many friends and put some new faces to names. Especially the numerous Dutch supporters
The programme cover was jolly good too

Thoroughly enjoyed myself with the D in it’s and my first outing!
Could not have wished for better competitors with fair and fun racing.
And of course the hospitality and all the support was fantastic.

On to the next one….

And here is a 360 vid made from the D showing the first race.
You can move the camera view all around.

Hello Everyone,

First time posting, so apologies if I get it wrong!

We had a fantastic weekend, winning the Mary Harris Trophy was a real honour and we were both chuffed to bits.

I wanted though to set the record straight a bit. I am very fortunate to drive the P-Type, but I have so little to do with its preparation that it's embarrassing! That amazing little car is all Dad. As you will all be familiar with your own cars he has put enormous amounts of effort and passion into its build and with so much willing help from the MMM community. Our success is far more down to the prep of the car and the support of the MMM community than its driver. Doesn't mean I don't love absolutely every minute, just thought I should share the glory!

I would also like to thank Thijs for an amazing battle in race 1. Not that I'm an expert but his driving was impeccable and it made the to and fro a lot of fun. I hope he enjoyed it too!

Thanks all for the welcome you have extended to us. Look forward to seeing you all again soon.

Charles

Hi Charles

Well done on winning the prestigious trophy, and welcome to the Forum.

Your Dad Ian is well known for his own immaculate F type, but you must have been very competitive in keeping up with Thijs and the other experienced drivers! Very well done.

Onno,
That’s a terrific video and very entertaining being able to swing round to watch the action beside you and behind you. What camera did you use?

For anyone wanting to get the full 360 degree experience you apparently need to watch it in the YouTube App, at least on an iPad.

Charles,
Again well done an congrats.

Simon/Gerhard,
Made it with a cheap 360 camera “samsung gear 360 2017”
It is an older model and maybe limited available.
Has quite a few flaws (low FPS, bad mic) but for around €100,- it was better for an experiment than the +€500 alternatives.
Might upgrade in the future, but first new halfshafts and a diff so I will dare to launch the D at the start ;-)

Race 2 is rendering now and should be available tomorrow.

It’s very impressive I have to say, Onno. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the race and being able to vary the view.

Brill!

I’ve just discovered that if you’re watching this on an iPad you just need to point the iPad where you want to look rather than swipe the screen, just the same as turning your head to see. It truly is amazing. I want one!
