Does anyone have any information about the maroon coloured car shown in the fourth picture? It is a very impressive creation of a Q Type, running on German numbers, but it has got the correct depth of chassis rail, with wide springs and many other genuine Q Type parts. The German plate was OAF994 (I think) and if it has a totally new chassis, it will not feature in the MMM records. All I can say is "I want one !)

Any info would be of interest.

The paint job was slightly opalescent/metallic which I thought a shame on such a recreation.

Simon does your reference of SVW refer to MG 993? If so it is not an SVW it is in fact a Carlton Bodied Mk2 18/80 belonging to on of our vice presidents, I think that is what he is, and as you can see it is in front of the Vintage Register sign with whom we shared the marquee.

The SUV flag was for the marquee next to us, nothing to do with the Triple-M and Vintage Register marquee - the wind was blowing that way when I took the photo so it looks as if it was our flag!

I realised that, Elizabeth! I just thought it was an amusing juxtaposition of flag and cars.

It's amazing how you read something as you think what it should be, I read SUV as SVW because that's what I wanted it to be. I hadn't noticed the flag.

Cooper pay attention at the back there. Yes Sir.

By the way what is an MG SUV, is it a Chinese thingy?

Thank you Rich, Colin and Nigel for the information regarding the Q Type copy. I agree about the slightly metallic paintwork, but as the car presumably is not acceptable to the MMM Register, Gaston is able to do what pleases him, with no fears of offending the OPs. My own very lighthearted criticism is that he has got the very substantial grab handle on the passenger side in the wrong place. The works certainly fitted the handle on the floorboards, to prevent the passenger being bounce out of the car when it was on "full noise" as Harvey Noble would have said.

I still like it despite the paint colour. Certainly my sort of MMM car.

Colin, my reservation on the colour is only that it is not really "of the period" and detracts just a little from the overall impression.

That said, I agree with you it is a very attractive car and would happily give it "stable room" any day.
