I note from an advertisement in the latest edition of Classics Monthly that the auctioneers Brightwells have sold an M Type (SV 7122) for £21,22. It must have been an exceptional car.

Are you saying you were the seller or the buyer?

Maybe I was seeing things but didn't Spitfire reply with a list of emoticons but no text? If I'm wrong I appoligise but the car was certainly sold.

You weren't seeing things. It was a graphic but you have to post something before you can do an edit and move elements. |

I have no idea the point of your graphic Spitfire, but I suggest you practice your doodling elsewhere. I have locked your membership of the forum. If you want it to be unlocked, I suggest you send the Chairman an explanation along with a good justification for so doing. Nick

To return to Jan's thread, here are some pictures of M-type SV 7122 downloaded from somewhere last October,I think.
It looks a very presentable early M-type.

Sorry Richard, I edited my post while you were replying when I discovered I had some pictures. But yours are better.
It even has the correct early instrument panel and a rare 0-80 white faced speedometer though to nit pick I believe the one below with a trip meter is spot on.
The change in wheel colour is interesting.

Hi Sam,
Is the boot correct? I am used to seeing a later, short lid version but isn't the rear spine a little too vertical?

It appeared at the "75 years of the M-type" gathering at Silverstone in 2003. I think it belonged to Chris Callaghan at the time |

To be fair, the original interior trim for an early car actually looked more like this mostly original example - 2M 371 - ( ignore the extras and the missing carpet )

Great pictures - very helpful. On the lower left of the original 4 pictures from Sam, is that horizontal polished panel a standard part. Mine doesn't have it and the bonnet catch is located directly onto the chassis rail
