'Brooklands' is mentioned in the catalogue ( 2 volumes in slip-case ) only en passant, but the NA looks a great deal more exciting than my 'P'. Oh for that sort of spare money!

There is a 'J.2 Roadster' in the sale as well.

Bob.

Well, anyone can have my supercharged J2 for far less than that, costs to me around £60k, I'd lie if I said I wouldn't be glad to see the back of it. Nothing wrong with the car at all, no expense spared. I just have a bitter taste in my mouth as a result of the people I've had to deal with since joining Triple M. I've been involved with vintage or classic cars most of my adult life but this has been a very bitter experience I'm afraid. See photos.

If it were substantially original, I guess it would command a premium because of the early history, an aspinall body (even one with doors) would set it apart as well. As is, the estimate does seem a tad high. Still, it seems like loose change when compared to some of those in that catalogue!

The J2 does not have the Aspinall body, that is long gone. It has a factory type body.
Yes, a bit pricey. Geoff in NZ was initially trying to find a local enthusiast to buy this car, he was ... surprised to see it listed in the auction. A not uncommon story with antipodean cars.

Hi there Wyn. Your J2 looks like a great car. Sorry to hear that the Triple M Group has put a dampner on your ownership. Down under here in NZ I Personaly think that you have a great car and should take it out as often as you can. bu@@er anyone else,s opinons.

Pat,

I don't think that it is "The Triple M Group" as a whole which has upset Wyn - it is certain "rogue traders" who slither around our hallowed precincts. I am sure that Wyn has met some nice MMMrs.

The NA is sold for £ 96.700. The J2 is not sold.

Just shows you what the name "Brooklands" can do for you.

£96,000 !! Ridiculous.

Ridiculous figure but mid estimate!

I wonder if we will see it competing at MGCC Silverstone 2014.

Would it be eligible, George. It seems very non-standard, and apparently has no genuine cmpetition history to support the "cut and shut" look.

Why would it not be eligible?

Afaik it has
triple M chassis
triple M engine
periode gearbox and brakes
special body

If it would not be eligible it would be hard to from a triple M grid since plenty of cars would be ruled out.

I thought it was a great special. If you just looked at the pics it doesnt look that good. When you see it in real life i thought it was fantastic. The body was brilliant it had k3 brakes didnt see the engine but it was pratically the basis of a k3 rep. I think it has a preseleta box. I think it would cost a 100k to build it today. I think its worth what it made. Maybe im wrong.

The Auction determined it's market price on that day, it may be different on another day, it depends on who wants it. The market spoke on the J2 as well. Any one know the price it was bid up to?
