More on the subject of noise just received from the BOC:
"Hi Ian
Just a reminder regarding noise levels at Prescott. It is fair to say that we have had a bumpy ride with the introduction of our new noise for 2015 noise protocol. This has resulted in much comment, some positive and some negative, across social media and various hill climb oriented press. We therefore need to mindful of noise levels at your event
I think it is worth putting a note of this into your next newsletter as follows:
“The Bugatti Owners’ Club operate a strict noise protocol at Prescott. If any vehicle is deemed to be “too noisy” either in the paddock or while on the hill the owner will be asked politely by officials to make modifications to quieten the vehicle down or risk being asked not to run the vehicle on the hill for the rest of the day. The officials decision is final in this regard. I am sure that you appreciate that the Club has to “live with its neighbours” and thank you in advance for your help in keeping noise to a minimum.”
Hope this is ok." |

I wonder if it's a subjective test or a proper test with a sound meter at set rpm at a set distance and angle from the exhaust outlet??

Well, it isn't coming after all! Here's the deep background...
"The MG is an accurate 746cc "Q" type recreation based on an "F" type chassis. It is identical to the original works "Q" types except that we have changed to a period Rootes supercharger in the interest of reliability (we do have the original supercharger) and we have re-positioned the supercharger to improve the balance of the car as the originals were very front heavy. It has a VSCC buff form. The project was started by my friend in 1980 !!! and has stalled for various reasons since then. I went in on the project about two and a half years ago and together we have brought it to completion. We have had to make many of the parts including castings, oil pump, crank etc. from scratch. Unfortunately work has been slower than planned the last few months (in part due to my son being terminally ill) and we are not going to make it to Pre War Prescott or to VSCC Prescott which we have also entered, it is a shame as we are so near. I will still be coming to Pre War Prescott ( I have to as I have promoted it to so many friends) but I will come in our 1935 Hillman Aero Minx KSJ 658 which we restored a few years ago and in which I took a family (one at a time) who had specifically come to last years Pre War Prescott to see an Aero as both the Father and Uncle raced and rallied Aero's in the 1930's, up the hill. I did upset my wife as I used up all my climb tickets on them and she did not get a run."
Hopefully we will see this car next year. |

Just a quick one. Flying Seattle to Heathrow in the morning. More entries since the list above, Andy King (J4), Graeme Underhill (PA), Mike Stevenson (P). More can be accepted thru this weekend, with tickets posted Monday. After that, just turn up next Saturday anyway! Climb tickets on the day will be fifty quid each. Just kidding! |
