Again, my understanding is that headlamp earthing continuity between the reflector/bulb sub-assembly and the headlamp shell/housing is provided by an earth wire between the fore-mentioned bulb clamp and the bullet connector female riveted to the inside of the shell/housing - pictured below:



My rewiring includes separate earthing wires up each tubular front wing mounting stay back to the chassis to service sidelights, flashing turn indicators, head and fog lights, and horn.

My headights certainly go out when I remove the reflector from the bowl, and come on again if I earth the reflector to any part of the chassis. I do not know whether there is any sign of a separate earth lead to the bulb holder (which would certainly make sense) so I will make a point of looking for it when I next have the headlamps to pieces.
