Not having anything better to do (or at least anything I want to do...) here is an aerial photo that I found. I make the location of the garage at approx. where the pedestrian crossing is outside the Bournemouth Monolithic Monstrosity Centre.

Mark, your pic must have been taken at the same time. if you look carefully, you can see the P Type in front of the Vauxhall.

Do either of these places still exist? Presumably not the garage, but is the hotel still a hotel and has it the same name?

ETA - just looked up the hotel on the Internet, it was apparently "a victim of the Bournemouth International Centre Development"

It would appear from another search that the garage was rebuilt on at two occasions and the above picture is included under "images".

Bournemouth is it? That's what I get for moving out of the UK 28 years ago. Interesting though that there is a town named Crypton.
