Hi All,

For this update I've selected North Yorkshire dealerships. Four doesn't seem enough dealers to cover an area the size of North Yorkshire, so if I have missed one please let me know.

(Apologies for the quality of the images, I have to print off from the spreadsheet and then scan in the printout.)

The dealership in York is an interesting name choice, its proving fruitless so far finding information relating to it. I'd be interested to hear if a surviving MMM was supplied by them.

Thanks

Matthew

Hi Derek,

Thanks for the information on your car I will add it to the spreadsheet. This is most probably common knowledge, but when I have been researching P J Evans, I have discovered that they were amalgamated into the modern day Evans Halshaw group.

Thanks once again.

Hi Allan,

Thanks, much appreciated. Unfortunately I don't have I great deal of information on Jarvis, as yet, but from what I can gather it was a very active MG and Wolseley dealer.

Thanks

Matthew

PA 1212 was delivered to University Motors in London in early September 1934. It finally sold through Pass & Joynes in London in July 1935. Registered in Tunbridge Wells as BYF 537.

Hello Matthew
PA 1991 was sold through the Main Agent P J Evans of Birmingham on 13 April 1935, with the dealer shown as John Bryant & Sons, Birmingham. The Chassis File shows the buyer as Miss K M Bryant (daughter of the Dealer?). By August 1935 the car was returned to Abingdon for remedial work. The address for John Bryant is now shown in the correspondence as 120 High Street, Bromsgrove. There is a John Bryant & Sons, an engineering firm at Redditch (5 miles from Bromsgrove). The MD was unresponsive over a possible link when I approached him a short time ago. I'll try again. Richard

Hi Phil and Richard,

Firstly thanks for the information on your cars. Phil sorry to be fussy, but do you have an exact date of supply for the record?

With regards to Pass & Joyce, I have uncovered an architects rough drawing of signage for Pass & Joyce and George Newman dated around the 1930's (I will share it once I have obtained the correct permissions.)

Along with the above, a couple of weeks ago I was searching for Austin automobilia on the website linked below, and low and behold as well as Austin automobilia there was a Pass & Joyce dash plaque (bottom left) which I believe would have dated for the 1930's. Unfortunately I didn't have deep enough pockets, if memory serves the lot made £1300.

http://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/auction-catalogues/j-s-auctions/catalogue-id-2914698/lot-23842683?searchitem=true

It was interesting to hear about the possible link between a modern day enterprise and John Bryant & Sons. I don't have much information on this dealership as yet, other than a few period images available off the internet. Please let me know if your enquiries are successful. I can only add that P J Evans is now part of the Evans Halshaw Group.

Thanks once again for the information it is greatly appreciated.

Matthew

Thanks much, Matthew. I am away from by records and relying on memory, hence Joynes instead of Joyce. I can confirm this in a couple days but PA1212 left the works in Abingdon on September 1, 1934; it sold on July 3, 1935, to A. Clinch of Tunbridge Wells. I am interested to learn more about Pass & Joyce.

Phil

Hi Robin,

Thanks for this information, B M Stuttard is another mystery that will require further investigation, despite the unusual name there isn't much information available in the normal channels.

Thanks

Matthew
